TPS25750: code examples for interfacing with bq25792

Do we have host controller code examples available when the TPS25750 is paired up with bq25792? I am particularly interested in controlling the charge enable process (EN_CHG in register REG0F_Charger_Control_0 of the bq25792).

In this application my customer is struggling with a situation in which the battery is not present and the bq25792 is tripping on OVP. We want to disable the charging before it happens. I understand that manipulating the CE_n pin is the best approach, but hardware limitations prevents them from doing it right away. We want to try to control it via software and a code example would help with the interpretation of TPS25750 host interface TRM.

I am more interested in a code example that can be implemented in a custom board rather than modifications to the GUI.

I am working on generating this collateral on how to use our I2Cr and I2Cw commands to interface with the BQ chargers.

The issue that you are seeing is likely related to a GUI/configuration bug that we are actively working right now. I will provide you a better update by Friday.

Chuck do you have a list that shows a list of the different USB-C PD events that the TPS25750 actually communicates with the BQ Chargers over I2C or GPIO changes?

The GUI creates the code that the TPS25750 uses to communicate with the BQ Chargers, any way to look at that code to see what events are causing communication with the BQ Chargers?

The attached XLS sheet has the current set of events that I am working with.

These events correspond IRQ status updates and the data is written out from right to left in the format.

The SINK events are pre-programmed into the firmware, but the source events are part of the GUI configuration and will be set to 1 universal setting once I resolve the issues that we are seeing.

I found the MAX77958 USB PD controller to control the BQ Chargers while you guys get the TPS25750 sorted.

From the GUI we can export the flash image in a .c format file, which is great. Do we have information on how to interpret the file? What are the addresses we should use and how to parse out the data?

I'm not sure I am understanding. Which addresses are you referring to, the EEPROM or battery charger IC?

You will need to flash the .c file for the PD configurations.

Your confusion is probably part of my problem. I used the GUI for setting up configurations I needed, including those of the bq25792. If using that file for a real board (host MCU connected to the slave TPS25750 I2C), what are the addresses to be used? The .c file generated is a giant block of data - how should I map it? I am trying to program the on-board flash.

The procedure to run the PBMx flow to use the c-array file to boot the TPS25750 is described in TRM.

We will be release a new version of the TRM with a code example shortly.

The Updated GUI that includes the fix for this issue was release this afternoon.

You should be able to configure the TPS25750 to work with the BQ25792 correctly now.

We will also be releasing a FAQ with examples of how to use the I2Cw and I2Cr 4cc commands to read and write charger registers early next week.
