P82B96: P82B96DGK Reflow, flow, hand soldering requirement

Part Number: P82B96

Hello expert,

I'd like to get about Reflow, flow, had soldering requirement for P82B96DGK.
For reflow requirement, I found following documents as general TI's recommended reflow requirement.
https://www.tij.co.jp/jp/lit/an/spraby1a/spraby1a.pdf

Could we apply this document for P82B96DGK or is there other specific documents for this device?

Also, I cannot found detailed requirement regarding flow and hand soldering.
Is there any document?

I'm looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you and best regards,
Kazuki Kuramochi

  • Kazuki-san,

The reflow soldering temps and requirements can be found in the packaging information under MSL peak temp:

This tells you the spec for this device and then you can use the MSL document that you linked above to translate this spec into temperature ranges. The peak reflow temperature for this device is 260C. I would recommend reading through the rest of the MSL document to go over the rest of the specifications for reflow soldering.

    Best,

    Chris

  • Chris-san,

Thank you for your swift reply.

I understand that we can use SPRABY1A for reflow.

Also, I'd like to know about hand soldering condition at least as follows.
    ・Maximum temp
    ・Maximum time.
This is because, there is possibility that they need to do rework from the point of view of maintenance.
Would you provide information or documents for hand soldering?

    Thank you and best regards,

  • Kazuki-san,

We do not specify any requirements when it comes to hand soldering. Typically when you hand solder you are working much faster. The soldering iron will be on the device for seconds and even if you use a heat gun, to heat up all the solder on a device, it will be on top of the device for an insignificant amount of time.

There are many standards you can follow for hand soldering like IPC-J-STD-001 but TI does not define any.

    Chris

  • Hello Chris-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
I found following document which has following document.
    https://www.ti.com/lit/an/snoa550h/snoa550h.pdf

This documents has could I provide it for them as recommended hand soldering procedure for P82B96.

    Thank you and best regards,

  • Kazuki-san,

This is a fine document to give to the customer. This document references : IPC-J-STD-004, IPC-JEDEC J-STD-020, and
IPC-JEDEC J-STD-033. I would check the latest version of these documents to make sure all the information is up to date.

    Best,

    Chris

  • Hello Chris-san,

Thank you for your swift confirmation.
I understand that we can regard SNOA550h as our recommended hand soldering condition for P82B96.
