TFP403: TFP403

Part Number: TFP403
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP401

Hello,

I am looking for an HDMI to LVDS converter to drive a 7" non-touch LCD .
And we want to proceed with two converter components, on one hand an HDMI to DVI or RGB and on the other hand DVI or RGB to LVDS. As the TFP403 is a DVI receiver, I would like to know if it can receive our HDMI signal and what kind of signal it will output?
Also, if you can suggest me an LVDS transmitter that would be most suitable for the TFP403 or another one that you would suggest.

I'm not used to digital display driver links and so can't really see the difference between HDMI and DVI, if you can provide some explanation.

Thank you in advance for your feedback and support regarding my request.

Regards,

Oumy

We have this guide available about how to design an HDMI to LVDS converter: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slla325c/slla325c.pdf.

  • hello David,

    Thank you for your feedback.
I had a good look at the document that you proposed to me, which is very interesting.
But I do not understand the DVI receivers that are proposed can they receive HDMI signals in input. Because one of your colleagues had told me "The TFP403 and TFP401 can application in high-speed digital interface solution with Digital Visual Interface (DVI 1.0), not with high definition multimedia interface (HDMI). while we need a converter HDMI to RGB (24bits) and RGB (24bits) to LVDS. So please recommend me references with these features if you have them. I am sending you our architecture to better understand our needs.

Thanks in advance for the support

The main difference between DVI and HDMI is that DVI does not support embedded audio while the HDMI supports embedded audio. The TFP403 input can support HDMI without the embedded audio.

    Thanks
