TPS25750: I_LIM5V setting number

Hi team,

My customer is asking about PP5V limit. I see I_LIM5V has several setting option and it's set by application firmware. Is it set by GUI? If so, could you share the screenshot for setting the I_LIM5V?

Otherwise is it set by PDO? For example if PDO is set below 0.5A, then setting 0 (1.15-1.36A) is automatically applied?

The I_LIM5V is controlled in source PDO1 and is controlled by the advanced gui setting just as you expected. Only the 200% case will give the result that you described. The 100% setting should be 0.5A + a 30% error margin which should yield .65A for the case that you described.

I'm not sure how 100% and 200% respect setting 0, 1,..,. Could you please attach the screenshot of the advanced GUI setting?

Kazuto,

with a setting of 0,you should see a 130% of the PDO as the ILM

for 1 and 2, you should see 150%

for 3, you should see 200%.

Hi Chuck,

My customer understood ILIM5V is set by GUI, and it is determined by following Maximum Current and Peak Current combination of PDO1, is that correct?
Peak Current=100% : ILIM5V=Maximum Current*130%
Peak Current=130% : ILIM5V=Maximum Current*150%
Peak Current=150% : ILIM5V=Maximum Current*150%
Peak Current=200% : ILIM5V=Maximum Current*200%

According to USB PD standard as below, "Peak Current=150% : ILIM5V=Maximum Current*200%" looks correct, however is ILIM5V really Maximum Current*150%?

The peak current settings on our device are handled via an internal digital filter that is able to support all 4 of these configurations without modification or configuration necessary. The Peak current setting is not properly labeled because it gives an additional ability to allow for dc currents beyond the PDO specifications to account for devices that to not strictly follow the specification.
