TUSB1310 USB3.0

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1310, TUSB1310A

Hi, I'm currently evaluating USB3.0 devices and I wonder if it would be possible to use TUSB1310 as a virtual com port?

Also, I had a MSP430 day this week and It have been said that it could be possible to request a custom vendor ID for that part.

Where I could find this information or the registration form?

Thanks a lot.

  • Sebastian,

The TUSB1310 (btw, we recommend the TUSB1310A) is only the PHYsical layer (transceiver) portion of a USB device.  The "application" in this case your virtual COM port (VCP) is handled by the controller portion which for the TUSB1310(A) would need to reside in an attached FPGA.  Do you really need a VCP that supports USB 3.0 speeds?  What serial rate are you wanting to run at on the UART side of the VCP connection.  We have a device (TUSB3410 and TUSBWINVCP software package) geared specific to this application, but it is limited to 921kbaud on the UART.

As far as the MSP430, normally I would refer you to the MSP430 Forumfor support with that device, but I happen to know you need to submit this form to get a PID for use with your MSP430-based product.
