DP83867IR: RGMII timing budget V2.0

Part Number: DP83867IR

Hi Experts,

Good day.

This is regarding the RGMII Interface Timing Budgets application report raised by Cx, SNLA243–October 2015.

The setup time and hold time measurements shown in fig 1 and fig 2 are with respect to 50% threshold of clock and data transitions. But it has been observed in some other document that for RGMII V2.0, the setup time is measured at the receiver with respect to VIHmin/VIL max of clock and 50% of data transitions. In some others it is mentioned as between 50% clock and VIHmin/VIL max level of data transitions.

Please clarify.

Thank you for your guidance.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

What documents have you seen that refer to VIHmin and VILmax?

Also, what is the reason for this query? Are you experiences some timing issues?

The difference between these alternate definitions of setup and hold time would be on the order of 100ps, so it should be negligible. Is there a reason this is not the case for your application?

    Thanks,

    David
