Hello all,

I'd like to know if would be possible to use the ata-to-usb bridge TUSB6250 to make a sort of hi-speed webcam.

My goal would be to transmit to a host a continuous stream of data coming from a sensor and, by the MCU, put a synchro signal between frames.

Hi Dax,

The TUSB6250 is a USB 2.0 to ATA/ATAPI bridge, it cannot interface to webcams. It is intended for mass storage applications and does not support isochronous traffic.

Hi Julie, thanks for your reply.

For my application I don't need isochronous transfers, bulk is fine.

I'd like to "trick" the TUSB6250 in order to force it to send a continuous stream of data (video) and every frame I'd insert, by CPU, a little sync signal.

I currently use a cy fx2 to do the job but your device is cheaper ;-)

Dax,

The "backside" bus on the TUSB6250 is true IDE ((parallel ATA)) and it can only interface to devices that appear as true-IDE devices. Unless you can make you video stream appear to be an IDE device (like an older HDD or optical drive) then it will not be applicable.

I konw the TUSB6250 is true IDE ((parallel ATA)) , but, do you have the firmware burned in the eeprom??
