DS100DF410: XFi to SFI retimer

The SOC that we are using have a 10G XFI interface coming out. We are looking for an option, such that without using a phy if we are able to communicate with a SFP port that that will be great. If I use DS100DF410 as retimer for those XFI signal, can it convert those XFI signals to SFI compatible signals? This will have us eliminate a use of extra phy completely.

Hi,

The DS100DF410 retimer is a good fit for both XFI and SFI interface applications. XFI and SFI are both 10G serial interfaces primarily used for 10G Ethernet front port optical applications. There is no data decoding or reencoding involved when interfacing between XFI and SFI. The differences between XFI and SFI are all on the min/max limits for high-speed electrical parameters. For instance, the SFI spec has Rx stress input test requirements that are a little more stringent for the host retimer than XFI spec. However, the DS100DF410 retimer meets both the SFI and XFI interface specs with margin, based on TI's validation test results.

So basically, I can use that in between to make sure that the electrical parameters are taken care off using this retimer.
