TPS25750: About Variable Supply setting

Guru 21045 points
Part Number: TPS25750

Hi Team,

I would like to know about Variable Supply setting

---------

[Q1]

Is there an upper limit for setting Variable Supply?

<For example>

OK case: min 11V, max 13 so 12V +/- 1V

NG case: min 5V, max 21V so 12V +/- 7V

---------

[Q2]

Can " Fixed " and " Variable Supply " settings be mixed?

<For example>

PDO1 5V (Fixed)

PDO2 9V (Fixed)

PDO3 11V to 13V (Variable supply)

PDO4 15V (Fixed)

PDO5 20V (Fixed)

---------

[Q3]

Can Variable Supply setting overlap with the voltage of other PDOs?

<For example>

PDO1 5V (Fixed)

PDO2 9V (Fixed)

PDO3 11V to 16V (Variable supply) *16V of PDO3 overlaps with 15V of PD4

PDO4 15V (Fixed)

PDO5 20V (Fixed)

---------

  • Hello,

    For Q1, the upper limit of the variable supply is determined by the maximum source/sink voltage (20V) of TPS25750.

    For Q2, yes you can have fixed and variable PDOs mixed together. However, the variable supply setting might not work if TPS25750 is configured as source.

    For Q3, you cannot have PDOs that overlaps.

    Regards.

  • Hi Tommy-san,

    Thank you for the information.

    I have two question.

    ------

    [Q4]

    TPS25750 is sink only.

    (I apologize my explanation is insufficient.)

    I understand that if TPS25750 is configured as sink, there is no problem with the following settings.

    Could you please let us know if you have any concern?

    Sink PDO1 5V

    Sink PDO2 9V

    Sink PDO3 11V to 13V

    Sink PDO4 15V

    Sink PDO5 20V

    ------

    [Q5]

    If I set the following.

    Does TPS25750 work properly?

    Could you please let us know if you have any concern?

    Sink PDO1 5V

    Sink PDO2 6V to 20V

    ------

  • Hi Hide,

    Both scenarios should work.
