Hi
We currently use the MAX3232EIDR Transceiver, we are finding it difficult to get hold of these, also the MAX3232EID is not recommended for new designs, could you please let me know what the difference is between the two and is the MAX3232EIDR also not recommended for new designs.
Could you also please let me know if I could use the TRSF3232EIDR instead of the MAX3232EIDR. Also it is confusing that the TRSF3232EID is not recommended for new design, could you please tell me what the difference is between the too.
I need to know which one I should use moving forward for a drop in replacement.
Kind Regards
Tariq
The MAX3232E and TRS3232E are identical. The TRSF3232E (with "F"), like the SN65C3232(E)/SN75C3232(E), supports higher speeds.
Only the tube packaging options are NRND. Reels continue to be sold.
Hi Tariq.
Clemens is correct - please let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi
Thank you for the replies, we currently have difficulty getting hold of the MAX3232EIDR but we can get the TRSF3232EIDR. Is it ok for me to use these devices in place of the MAX3232EIDR are there any disadvantages of using this part. The TRSF3232EIDR are more expensive but it is a cost we will have to bear during this capacity constrained environment right now where there is more demand than supply.

Tariq
The faster device outputs faster edges, so it might be possible to get slightly more EMI.
Hi Tariq,
Clemens is correct again - essentially the TRSF3232EIDR can operate at a higher data-rate which means that its transition speeds are faster, so there will be a bit more high frequency content in an otherwise similar data signal from the TRSF3232EIDR. It shouldn't be a huge impact - but it will have slightly more energy spread into higher frequency bands.
Best,
Parker
Thank you Clemens and Parker for your help, that has cleared up all my concerns and it is something that hadn't crossed my mind.
