DS90UB941AS-Q1: General questions

Part Number: DS90UB941AS-Q1

Dear teams,

My customer is using DS90UB941. Could I ask following support need from your side?

1. Coaxial mode is used for Ser & Deser. Has anyone used this mode before?
2. If it works in Coaxial mode, it is necessary to change the MODE configuration and the output port configuration of DOUT0/1. Are there any other points that need to be paid attention to? 3. In LVDS mode, a common mode coil is generally added to the output port. In Coaxial mode, is there no need for a common mode coil? 4. DOUT0/1 – Connect the capacitor and resistor to GND under Coaxial. Do the resistors and capacitors need to be placed close to the chip during PCB Layout?

Thanks!
Dylan
  • Hello Dylan,

    1) Yes, this is a valid use case.

    2) You should change the Hardware settings as per section "8.4.1 Mode Select Configuration Settings (MODE_SEL[1:0])". Also please refer to "Figure 9-2. Typical Connection Diagram - Coaxial" and to section "9.2.1 Design Requirements".

    3) No.

    4) As per section "11.2 Layout Example", For layout of a coax board, 100 Ω coupled traces should be used with the DOUT- termination near to the connector.
