SN65DSI86: Confirm with Use case from HW

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65DSI86

Hi David:

I need to confirn with you as list use case.

1. DSIA (RX) link with  SOC (DSI0 TX) ,DSIB (RX) link with SOC (DSI1 TX)

If I set SN65DSI86 to "dual DSI" setting, (Left/Right), I only transfer DSI0 data..and set (0x3D RIGHT_CROP.) to mask DSI B video,

Do the result be ok? (S) : means have signal data , (N): means no any video data

(1)Setting dual channel (L/R)

DSI0 (S)(1080P)-->DSIA (S)

                                                      ----> DP (1080P monitor) (OK?)( display all 1080P picture or half picture on monitor)

DSI1 (N)-->DSIB (0x3D R CROP)

(2)Setting dual channel (L/R)

DSI0 (N)-->DSIA (0x3E L CROP)

                                                      ----> DP (1080P monitor) (OK?) display all 1080P picture or half picture on monitor)

DSI1 (S)(1080P)-->DSIB (S)

(3)

Setting dual channel (L/R)

DSI0 (S)(1080P)-->DSIA (S)

                                                      ----> DP (3160 (4K)monitor) (OK?) display 4k picture on monitor)

DSI1 (S)(1080P)-->DSIB (S)

================================================================

ask the point:

1. In setting dual channel (L/R), the 2 channel must be both had signal or not?

2. If we want to display only Channel B , how to do?

  • Hi,

    In dual channel L/R mode, if you only send data on Channel A, then only the left portion of the display will show up.

    When configured for dual DSI channels, the SN65DSI86 will use VSS, VSE, and HSS packets from channel A. The DSIx6 will use channel A events to recreate the same timings on the DisplayPort interface. The VSS, VSE, and HSS packets from channel B are used to internally align data on channel B to channel A. So you can't display on Channel B only.

    Thanks

    David
