DS90UB960-Q1: If I want to indicate more than 8 GPIO from remote serializer

Unfortunately the 960 is only equipped with 8 GPIOs like you mentioned.  So at most you will be able to do is 2 from each serializer.  What signals are the GPIOs being used for?

Here is some trouble with 960 and 935. Our customer need to use three 960 gpio for other use. For each 935, they would like to use two GPIO for remote use, which are used for monitoring PG signal. To be short, 935 remote GPIOs are detecting toggle and the Soc from 960 side need to know the toggle. Apparently 960 don't have enough GPIOs. So is there any way to achieve that? Thanks.

Hi Elec,

I'm not sure the functionality of the GPIOs but you could try to use some GPIO expander or use the mailbox registers internal to the devices to achieve some extra functionality.  Can you share some details on what they need all the GPIOs for?  It may help me to better help you.

Hi Nick,

The GPIO0 and GPIO2 from 935 are connected to PMIC reset and sensor X3C ERRB output. These signal need to be monitored by SoC from 960 side so the SOC can have some action after detection abnormal. But GPIO0/1/2 on 960 are used for other usage so there are only 5 GPIOs can be used as remote GPIO. Is there other way that the 960 or soc can detect signal toggle on 935 GPIO pins no matter via software or hardware? It might be hard to change hardware so the software is preferred, Thanks.

I guess it doesn't work either. The customer cannot read 935 register value periodically. The They need to detect the signal toggle then react. Thanks.

Why can't they read the 935 registers?  They should always be available.

They can read 935 register. The main purpose for the GPIO use is to detect signal toggle. To achieve this via reading reg, they need to constantly read all time time. That wastes a lot of MCU resource. If you set large reading interval, they cannot detect the error timely. This is the tricky point. Thanks.
