DS90UB960-Q1: Multi image display with 960

Part Number: DS90UB960-Q1

Hello team,

While I study for 960 and VC-ID, I have quick question about possibility as below configuration.

Purpose is to output through 954.

I understand that 960 received 4image and should assign VC-ID on data from each 4ea port for 954.

then it can output to 953 and 954 can output them.

but at this moment, 954 only can support 4ea VC-ID, 954 cannot output 8ea image with MIPI CSI output.

Do you think my understanding is correct??

Thank you.

  • Hello Harry,

Your understanding is correct but this architecture is possible if one of the synchronized forwarding modes on each 960 is used. For example, if the 960 uses synchronized line concatenated forwarding mode, then each will output all 4 cameras as one larger image with single VCID. That way each 960 would be outputting only one VCID and then at the 954 side there could be only 2 VCID to carry all 8 images. Then on the receiving SoC the images can be extracted through a basic ISP function.

You must also make sure to consider bandwidth limitations of such an aggregation architecture. The basis of this is explained here: https://training.ti.com/csi-2-aggregation-breakdown?context=1134310-1139225-1148220

    Best Regards,
