DS280DF810: Initial configuration method

Guru 10920 points

Hello,

My customer is considering using DS28DF810 and DS28BR810.

Both devices have an SMBUS line and it seems that they should be controlled through the SMBUS when powered on. Is it correct?

Is there a way to operate the device itself with user's preset settings without control through SMBUS?

Thank you.

JH

  • Hi JH,

These devices are configured through SMBus lines.  There is not a way to configure these devices without SMBus, but it is possible to load the device configuration into an external EEPROM.  By placing the devices into SMBus controller mode (also called SMBus master mode), they can take control of the SMBus line and load their configuration from an external EEPROM upon power up.  This eliminates the need for an external microcontroller.

    Thanks,
    Drew
