TIC12400: Diagnostic of individual input channels.

Hi,
We are using TIC12400 MSDI in one of our applications for recording digital inputs from multiple channels. We would like to know if there is a way to get analog voltage at channels while they are configured as a digital input. Also, I would like to understand what all options are available for diagnosing individual inputs.

    The pins of the TIC12400 and TIC12400-Q1 are set as either analog or digital. They are mux'd to either the ADC input or a comparator based upon this setting.

    Thus they do not behave as analog inputs when set as connected to the comparator (the bottom option of the image above).

    Also, I would like to understand what all options are available for diagnosing individual inputs.

    I'm not too sure what you mean by diagnosing inputs. Is there perhaps another term for your question?

    Thanks for your response. Here diagnosing mean that we are able to detect faults such as short to GND or short to VCC at the individual channel. If there are ways in which it can be done then please let us know.

    Understood. If there is a short to VS or GND then the switch would lose functionality. In the product folder for the automotive version of the device (TIC12400-Q1), you can find the functional safety FMAs, which describe the effects that occur when shorts like this take place. See Section 4 here.

    Certain pins will not be able to read a voltage drop. Of course, there are other ways to do this. For example, the user can treat an ADC 0 Ω reading as a short-to-ground, while the opposite could be treated as a short-to-supply. And the resistor-coded switches could be configured to be distinguishably mid-range. Just a thought.
