DP83TG720EVM-MC: DP83TG720EVM-MC

Part Number: DP83TG720EVM-MC

Hey,

I have a question to the DP83TG720EVM-MC. The DP83TG720EVM-MC is used to change "normal" ethernet to the " 1 twisted pair" version. NXP offers also an eval-board like the DP83TG720EVM-MC but it is mentioned that you need one phy with "reverse mii". I can't find any hint in the TI datasheets that mention "reverse mii". How is this function called by TI?

  • Hi Lukas,

I don't necessarily understand the term "reverse mii" in this context. The way our DP83TG720EVM-MC board works is that it is able to convert between 1000Base-T and 1000Base-T1 via back-to-back RGMII connection between DP83867 and DP83TG720. Figure 1-1 of DP83TG720EVM-MC's User's Guide is able to give a clear picture of what is going on. Both PHYs are working under normal operations, with no need for "reverse mii" for functionality.

    Sincerely,

    Gerome
