looking to drive a 100ohm dif pair of SMPTE292 through a 2-5 meter cable. This particular application cant use coax cabling.

Is it possible to use a balun on OUT0 to convert 75ohm to 100ohm? Or is it possible to use OUT1+/- as a cable driver?

Hi Nathan,

This depends on the loss of 2-5 meter cable.

Secondly it also depends on the receiver gain - RX being driven by OUT0 of the LMH1218. If your receiver has let's say 20-25dB gain and your cable loss is also less than this range, then 100-ohm output can be used to driver 100-ohm differential cable that you are using.

I was looking at maybe using the LMH1219 on receiver side. Would it be possible running copper STP with maximum insertion loss ~31.2 db/30m @ 1Ghz? From my understanding OUT0+ and OUT0- can be used as a 100ohm dif output, is this correct?
