DS90UB960-Q1: MAP Dwell Time

Hi Team,

For the MAP dwell time, it is my understanding that it works by running the link 10 times at each AEQ setting for the specified dwell time, and that the valid dwell times are between 500ms and 1s.

My customer's application is set up to run the MAP 1x at 10s instead of 10x at 1s.

Is there any difference/benefit to doing it either way?

Hey Delaney,

The MAP tool doesn't run the link 10x times at each AEQ setting. It just runs the link once each at every combo of selected AEQ + Sfilter position for the specified dwell time. The dwell time can be as short or long as desired. The longer the dwell time, the higher the effective confidence level can be for the desired BER the customer is trying to achieve.

Thank you for the quick response! I will let my customer know that there is no real difference then running at 1x 10s?

Hey Delaney,

The 10x dwell time from the other thread was a misunderstanding. I spoke with Nick and he is going to revise that thread. The MAP tool does not dwell for 10x the dwell time so what the customer is doing here is basically equivalent to what MAP is doing.
