Thanks for the reply. I am trying to make a small keyboard with some specific keys.
I just need to read the keypress and print the Ascii on the serial monitor against each specific keypress. 
I saw a thread where a TI guy posted an Arduino Code. I just want to understand what this code actually performing and Is it close to my application so I can modify or use it?

That code does not look to be close to your application.

In the setup() function, configure the registers for your 3x9 matrix. In the loop() function, check the /INT signal (if it is connected), and then read the KEY_EVENT_A register until it is zero.

Do you know how to use I²C with the Arduino libraries? Is there anything unclear in the description of the registers in the datasheet?

Yes, I know how to use the I2C library. I am finalizing a PCB and soon, it will be done then I will focus on playing with the programming part. I hope it will not a hectic work to interface this IC with Arduino.
