DP83822IF: Fiber and Copper Interface on same

We are planning to use DP83822IF PHY in our design , This will be interfaced to an old controller via MII interface ,

we wanted to know if the same TX , RX pins RD_M, RD_P and TD_M,TD_P can be used both as Copper as well as Fiber .

ie The interface will work as 100Base - T copper if magnetics and RJ45 jack used and Will work as 100 Base -Fx with a Fiber optic transceiver.

Also please let us know if the device have any EOL plans .

Hi Eby,

Yes, this understanding is correct, the interface will work as 100Base-T copper if magnetics and RJ45 jack are used and as 100Base-FX with a Fiber optic transceiver.

Please see section 9.2 of the datasheet for diagrams for each case.

DP83822 has no EOL plans soon.
