TUSB8020B: Absolute Junction Temperature

Genius 9880 points
Part Number: TUSB8020B

Hi Team,

What is the maximum junction temperature of this IC? The only information I could find in the datasheet is the recommended junction temperature range which is -40 to 105C.

What is the reason why Maximum junction temperature is missing in the datasheet?

Thank you.

Regards,
May

  • Hi May,

We do not specify an absolute maximum junction temperature, the device should not be operated outside the recommended junction temperature range.

  • Hi JMMN,

My customer have follow questions, please see details below.

While I understand that it is best to use the part in the recommended conditions, I have to meet a requirement to operate at an elevated temperature for a very short amount of time. Could you please ask the team if operating at 10-15°C for 30 minutes would be totally unacceptable or if it just poses the risk of a reduced part life. Is there a low power state or "standby" mode that we could put the device in for those 30 min? If 105°C is truly the max, is there another part you can recommend that we can switch to?

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    May

  • Hi May,

Operating outside the recommended range may cause reliability issues and is not recommended.  We do not have a hub with a higher junction temperature.
