HD3SS3220: If HD3SS3220 support OTG

Part Number: HD3SS3220

Hello,

Our board need to support OTG function, and we have discussed with  Centrino and now it has been determined that the switch of host/ device requires a level change if the ID pin, while ID pin change level  need HD3SS3220 process, that is to say, then Type C connected PC, the main board is used as device, ID pin of HD3SS3220 gives high level, when OTG device plug in, the main board is used as host, ID pin gives low level.

So we need to confirm:

1. if HD3SS3220 could meet our requirement.

2. The datasheet says,    when it worked in DRP mode, it could checked device or host mode, and control ID pin to output high or low.

If HD3SS3220 could meet requirement, CC  pin of  type C should connect HD3SS3220? Is there any other attention which should be paid?

3.If HD3SS3220 could meet requirement, and if we want to support OTG, does HD3SS3220 need driver files to support? If need, please help to provide.

Best regards

Kailyn

  • Kailyn:

HD3SS3220 can be used as DRP (float) to support OTG device, type-C CC pin can be connected to CC pin of HD3SS3220 directly. No special software needed for HD3S3220.

What is MPQq4228? Also ID pin is used to control Vbus on type-C connector. When DFP, need to supply Vbus to C-connector.
