Hi team,
How does customer deal with SPDIF_IN pin when ARC is unused?
Typical application in the datasheet (9.2.1 Source Side Application ) suggest 500k ohm pull-down. If this pin is floating, is there any problems?
Best regards,
Hayashi

SPDIF_IN must have ~500K resistor to ground to prevent excess current consumption.
Thanks

Hi David,
The concern is only increase of current consumption, right? Is there any rush current flow into SPDIF_IN from Vcc or Vdd, then device will be broken?

I need to spend some time to take a deeper look into this. Is the customer actually seeing an issue with the SPDIF_IN when they leave it open?
Thanks

We only looked at the SPDIF_IN floating that will cause high current consumption, but we never looked at the SPD_IF floating that will cause any device damage.
I would recommend that we follow the TMDS181 datasheet recommendation and have it pulled to ground through a ~500k resistor.
Thanks
David
