DP83822I: is it possible to interface a 100Base-LX transceiver and obtain 100mbps throughput

I wanted to confirm whether it is possible for the DP83822I to interface a 100Base-LX transceiver. Though the datasheet doesn't specifically state this (100Base-FX only) there are other PHY chips mentioned in the forum that state soley 100Base-FX support but can interface 100Base-LX.

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

100Base-LX and 100Base-FX are defined for different medium, but both of them have same underlying signaling based on 100Base-X and DP83822 supports 100Base-X signaling. Since, the medium is different, we need different SFP modules for 100Base-LX and 100Base-FX transmission.

So, if you pick an SFP which is 100Base-LX compatible, DP838822 can transmit data over long optical cables.
