Hello,
My customer has 2 questions for TCAN4550
1.
According to the datasheets, TCAN4550(non-Q1) supports up to only 24V VSUP while TCAN4550-Q1 supports up to 30V VSUP.
Is this 24V VSUP specification for non-Q1 version correct? They want to use it with 24V +- 10% power supply and confirm this specification just in case.
2.
TCAN4550-Q1 supports up to 8Mbps.
Is it possible to configure 5Mbps?
Regards,
Oba
Hi Oba,
1. Correct. The Q1 rated device has an extended Vsup operating range compared to the non-Q1 version. If the customer intends to use a supply voltage above 24V, I would recommend the use of the Q1 device.
2. Yes, 5Mbps configuration is possible. The possible data rates depend on the clock source and must be an integer divisor of the clock frequency. For 5Mbps, it is recommended that a 40MHz clock source be used. The linked document below details how to configure the effective CAN data rate based on this reference clock source.
