DS90UB935-Q1: Do I have to configurate pattern generate when running BIST ?

Hi Expert,

My customer use 935+936 and now they want to run BIST test. I know BIST is activated in 936. But I also see in 935 datasheet that there is a lot description about pattern generation. My question is, if I only want to test if 935 + 936 work well, do I have to configurate pattern generate in 935? What else need I do except enable BIST in 936 for that purpose? Thanks.

Hello Elec,

PATGEN should not be active during BIST. BIST will override the channel data with a test pattern

Understood. So both BIST or PATGEN can test if 935 and 936 works well, right? Thanks.

Hello Elec,

PATGEN is typically used to verify resolution/timing/pixel information can be passed correctly from SER/DES. BIST is used to verify that both the FC and BC are running error free or as a means to perform BER testing
