DS90UB949-Q1: For HDMI 720p resolution, could we use UB949 with UB928 and only 1-lane usage?

Part Number: DS90UB949-Q1

Hello expert,

Customer is asking if we can implement below application. Could you check if below block is workable? Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Hi Ann,

Thanks for reaching out. Yes, in backward-compatible mode, the DS90UB949 supports up to 720p resolutions with 24-bit color depth over a single differential link. Also, the DS90UB928 can support High definition (720p) Video resolution.

Note – The DS90UB949 is backward-compatible to the UB928 for PCLK ranging from 25 MHz to 85 MHz. Also, backward compatibility does not need to be enabled. When the DS90UB949 is paired with a backward compatible device, the serializer will auto-detect to 1-lane FPD-Link III on the primary channel (DOUT0±).

Also, the PCLK of the transmitted video should less than 85 MHz to be supported by a single FPD-Link channel. Make sure your active video + blanking resolution meets this PCLK requirement
