Hi team,

I have a customer who is using the TCA6507RUER and they are encountering supply issues, but have found inventory of the "BGA Microstar Junior" package option TCA6507ZXUR. However, this device is listed as obsolete.

We were wondering:

Are TCA6507RUER and TCA6507ZXUR software compatible?
Was there anything about the TCA6507ZXUR that led to it being obsoleted?

Hi Austin,

The packages share the same die so software from one TCA6507 device can be used with another regardless of the package.

I'm not completely sure here. This might be a case where we were having issues trying to procure the actual leadframe for the package or the only manufacturer of the lead frame went under. We generally don't obsolete package variants for a device unless we can't procure material necessary to make the package variant.

Hi Austin,

The TCA6507ZXUR was discontinued in 2020 due to an equipment change, not due to any issue with the part itself. Please see PCN #20190429000 for reference.

The devices are software compatible as Bobby mentioned above.

I see that the land pattern data for the BGA Junior Microstar is no longer in the TCA6507 datasheet, do we have an older iteration of this datasheet or anywhere else with land pattern data for this part?
