You do not need to disconnect the imager from the serializer.

The MAP tool simulates all of the AEQ settings on the 962 deserializer. The tool will run a script that will set the AEQ to several fixed values and then then hold for a specific dwell time. During that time, if the 962 detects any errors, then a red square will be shown in the ALP GUI. A passing AEQ setting will be shown green.

As long as the serializer and deserializer are able to be powered-up and establish LOCK, then the MAP tool can be used to provide a high-level analysis of the channel quality. For the 953/962 connection, LOCK is established if both devices are powered-up. It doesn't matter if the imager is connected or not. For the 933/962 connection, if the 933 is using the PCLK as the reference clock, then the imager needs to be connected and active in order to drive the Forward Channel transmission and establish LOCK between the devices.
