TSP65988DH VIN_3V3 from LDO

Part number is TPS65988DHRSHR which while not recognized in the part number field definitely appears to be a valid part.

I am working on modifications to a design that contains a PD controller (TPS65988DH). This design is powering the VIN_3V3 (pin 5) from an external LDO for dead battery support. In reading the data sheet it appears that this can also be powerd from the internal 3.3V LDO. The present design uses the internal LDO to power the EEP but has an external LDO to power the 3.3V dead battery input. There are lead time issues with this LDO so we would like to eliminate it if possible. Some few notes and a question:

1. I am not the original designer but from the data sheet it appears that the external LDO isn't necessary for dead battery support.

2. The client I am working with said there were issues with reading the external EEP during bring up.

3. That said there were a lot of other issues during bring-up related to the confusing variations of TPS65988 and TPS65987 PD controllers.

4. Fundamental question is if there are any issues with using the internal LDO on the TPS65988DHRSHR PD controller to power the PD 3.3V dead battery input power and the configuration EEP?
