Hi,

I have the problem of ESD(electro-static discharge) for USB3.1 about TUSB1044RNQR

When I test ESD to USB Type-C connector, USB state becomes disconnected state.

After few seconds, automatically USB state becomes connected state.

My circuit have suppressors for super-speed lines and USB2.0 lines and CC1/2 lines of Type-C connector.

When I tried to bypassing TUSB1044RNQR, this problem didn’t happen.

I guess that the cause of this problem is TUSB1044RNQR.

My questions are as below.

Q1:Does TUSB1044RNQR have ESD problem like my problem?

Q2:Could you tell me solutions for my problem?

it could happen. what kind of ESD standand for this test?

Some standand think it's still pass if USB re-connected after ESD test.

Thank you for your reply.

The kind of ESD standard is IEC61000-4-2. I tested air discharge. Results are NG on 2kV, 4kV, 8kV, 10kV.

If possible, I want to pass 10kV.

Uchida-San:

It's not considered fail if USB data can be recovered after ESD strike unless you need to get CE mark.

You can try some other ESD devices to see any improvement.
