TUSB216: Recommendation for IC placement

Hi expert,

Would you suggest where(A or B) to put TUSB216 in my customer's system as below? For your more information, main SoC gets audio data from USB port which is on a separated board but connected with a data cable.

Hi Jay,

Placement A would be preferable. How long is the cable between the two PCBs?

Hi JMMN,

I'd like to double check about a term.

"Pre-channel cable" is a cable which is connected at input of TUSB216, isn't it? And the cable in upper diagram is a post channel cable. Please correct if I'm wrong.

If they are using placement A, the cable between the boards is pre-channel and if they are using placement B, the cable between the boards is post-channel.

I am assuming that the application could have a cable that gets connected to the exposed USB connector as well.
