DP83TD510E-EVM: communication cannot be established between 2 SPE EVM boards

Hi, I'm a student and working on a Single Pair Ethernet project. I could not establish communication between EVM1 and EVM2 (DP83TD510E-EVM) each connected to a PC. I have the MSP430 Driver and USB-2-MDIO properly installed (in both PCs). the two EVMs are powered via USB ports. 

My test procedure was the following :

  • Setup the boards and connect them through the desired cable length
  • Enable reverse loop-back on one of the boards.
  • Enable packet generation on another connected board.
  • Packet checker

Unfortunately a proper link could not be established.

I need to know the proper steps how to establish a simple communication between the two boards, in other words I would like to know what strap configurations I should use and if there any useful scripts for testing my boards both individually and when they're both connected.
