SN75LVCP601: spec check

The customer's MB used the redriver SN75LVCP601 because the SATA trace was too long. Connected to Inxxx's 530 120GB SATA SSD and Amphenol 1M cable, the SATA SSD could not be recognized randomly during the reboot test. After the board bypass redriver, I found that Inxxx's 530 120GB SATA SSD can be recognized normally. After restarting the board 10 times in a row, there is no phenomenon that it cannot be recognized. Restart 10 times without losing the disk, this may be the speed down Gen2 or Gen1 So I suspect that this redriver is not compatible with some hard drives under Gen3 speed Is there any improvement plan?

    I believe you mean SATA Gen3 or 6Gbps. SN75LVCP601 is compatible with SATA3. Perhaps customer may need to fine tune the EQ or de-emphasis settings. At Gen1 and Gen2 there is much less loss and this may explain why this works at lower rates.

    Only when an Inxxx 530 120GB SATA SSD is connected with an Amphenol 1M cable, will reboot fail to recognize the SATA SSD Other SATA3 hard disks and cables will not have the problem of not being recognized. The picture below shows the schematic of the redriver connected to the SATA connector.

    Any suggested EQ or de-emphasis settings?

    Given we see this issue when we use this SSD and Amphenol cable, I expect we should sweep EQ1, EQ2, DE1,DE2, DW1, and DW2 settings. We need to have the right combinations of these different settings. It would be good to start sequentially with EQ1, EQ2, ..., and DW2 - as shown above.

    First we need to understand the root cause. The report says fail to connect to this SSD but we don't know if this occurs at start up or else. SATA1 and 2 is ok with this SSD? This customer can also talk to this SSD vendor to see if they have seen a similar report from other customers too.
