DS90UB940-Q1: Resolution Configuration and Internal Pattern Generator

Part Number: DS90UB940-Q1

Hi TI Teams,

We are trying to configure 940 pattern generator for 480*854@60Hz but we can't see data output from CSI-2 port.

We would like to confirm:

1. Does 940 support this resolution(480*845@60Hz) ? Casue in 940 spec, it's said that input video format detection is derived from progressive display resolutions based on the CEA−861D specification. But 480*854@60 is not in the CEA-861D.

2. When configuring pattern generator, is YUV422 supported? Because in SNLA132G.pdf, only RGB888 and RGB666 was mentioned.

Thanks

  • Hi Jun,

To clarify, when you say you can't see data output does this mean you just see a blank or black screen on the connected display? What display are you using and are you able to share the specifications?

Yes, the 940 should be able to generate this resolution. Please make sure you also include the blanking required by the display when setting up the pattern generator.

No, for the 940 only RGB888 and RGB666 are supported by the pattern generator.

    Sincerely,

  • Hi Ryan,

    Thanks for your reply!

If YUV422 was not surpported, then we will try to configure a serializer(DS90UB941) to work with 940 and configured YUV422 in normal mode.

Because YUV422 is needed in our reciever that connect with 940.

Do you have any suggestion to configure DS90UB941 and DS90UB940 in YUV422?

The panel's blanking parameters are as follow:

    h_active:480 , hfp:20 , hbp:20 , hsync:10 , htotal 530 ,

    v_active:854 , vfp:40 , vbp:40 , vsync:10  vtotal 944.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Jun,

The table below from the 940 datasheet outlines the register settings to output YUV422:

For the 941, we have this application note (found here) to help with bring up.

I just noticed this e2e post as well. Is this regarding the same setup?

    Sincerely,

    Ryan
