How are you verifying writes are not working? Can you send a scope shot of MDC/MDIO during read and write operations with good resolution? Would like to compare these scope shots to Table 8-6 in the datasheet.

Also, ensure you are meeting the timing requirements listed in section 7.9 of the datasheet.

Hi David, 

     We will send you the MDC/MDIO shot during read and write operation, meanwhile find our PHY scheme for verification of we are missing anything from hardware point of view. We are using two PHYs and we have not done hardware address strapping.

There is one more question I want to ask. We are using two PHYs as attached schematic, but using single MDIO & MDC lines. We have not used Hardware strapping for addressing the PHY. So, my question is there will be an issue while accessing register from both the PHYs , and how it is going to differentiate between the PHYs.

Hi Afzal,

This will definitely be an issue if you have two PHYs with the same PHY ID using the same SMI bus. You must configure one of them to a unique PHY address using bootstrapping, or use two separate SMI busses, in order to avoid contention. This could be the cause of your issue.
