DP83826I: Capacitor value for CEXT pin

Dear Support,

In sections 6 and 7 of the DP83826 data sheet, it states that the CEXT pin should be connected through a 2nF capacitor to ground. However, in the DP83826EVM reference design, a 100nF capacitor is used. There is a big difference between these two values. What is the recommended capacitor value to use?

Please follow the datasheet 2nF capacitor value. We are planning to change the capacitor value on the next generation EVM. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the quick response.

2nF is not a common value. Would it be acceptable to use a capacitor value of 10nF with 10% tolerance?

Hi Gavin,

If 2nF capacitor is hard to find. you can replace with 2.2nF capacitor. we cannot sign off for 10nF capacitor value for CEXT pin.

Hi Hillman,

In order to avoid adding a line to my bill of materials, I will go with two 1nF capacitors (+/-10%) in parallel. Thanks for your help.
