Hi team,
Can LEDCR register be used to configure blink rate of LED_1 as shown below? Datasheet only has LED_0.
Hello,
Unfortunately, we do not have this setting available.
Sincerely,
Gerome
Hi Gerome,
Just to confirm, are you saying blinking rate for LED_1 can't be configured? Then what is the LED_1 blinking rate?
Hello,
This is a speed indicator. This signal will not blink. Instead, it will be on if speed is 100mbps, while it will be off for 10mbps.
Sincerely,
Gerome
Hi Gerome,
For LED_1, if it is configured as RX/TX Activity, will it not blink??
Hello,
Thank you for your query. Let me get back to the team regarding this new information. I expect to get back to you early next week.
Sincerely,
Gerome
Hi Gerome,
Thanks. Will wait for your feedback.
Just to add on, basically prefer to set the device in below configuration - can you please advise if below configuration can be done and what are the registers need to be set to achieve below configuration? Thanks!
Hi,
We cannot find the specific register for LED1 blink rate control. However, in terms of your configuration, you can set these settings and see if they meet your expectations visually.
Sincerely,
Gerome
Hi Gerome,
Can BU team help test out the proposed configuration since datasheet is not clear on this? Customer is studying the part and they can't test it right now.
Hi PY,
Why cant customer use LED_0 as activity so they have access to blink rate configurability, and then use LED_1 as link?
Sincerely,
Gerome
Hi Gerome,
1. your suggestion can be discussed with customer but this may or may not be accepted - depending if customer need to follow the same setting as prior gen.
2. more importantly, the datasheet is not clear on the configuration and we need your make such clarifications. this should not depend on the outcome of point #1.
Again, can you please advise if below configuration can be done and what are the registers need to be set to achieve below configuration?
Hi PY,
Please let me get back to you with a response later this week.
Sincerely,
Gerome
Hi PY,
After testing in lab, the blink rate register (0x18) controls blink rate for both LEDs at the same time. As both LEDs have the option to blink for activity either via strapping (LED_0), or register modification (both LEDs), if both LEDs are set to blink, they will blink at the rate defined by register 0x18[10:9].
Sincerely,
Gerome
Hi Gerome,
Thank you for the update. In this case, can I confirm that below settings can be implemented without additional register set?
Hi PY,
LED_0 is default link via strapping, so a software write may not be needed. However, if it is strapped in mode 1 or 2 where blink is, then you must route MLED to LED_0 (0x25[1:0]) and ensure [6:3] = '0'.
LED_1 can also be configured as blink upon activity by writing 0x460[11:8] as '1000'. If you write '0001', then the light will turn on if there is activity, not blink.
Sincerely,
Gerome
