DS90C385A: RGB to DSI converter for a display

Part Number: DS90C385A

Hello team,

our KMM customer is looking for a solution on how to control a DSI-display with an RGB-interface MCU.

Can the DS90C385A be used for this purpose?

What the LVDS specs are critical for LCD-interface for this case?

If the DS90C385A is not a correct device, could you please advise another solution on how to convert RGB to DSI.

Thank you.

  • Hello Slava,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We will get back to you tomorrow.

  • Hello Slava,

The DS90C385A generates an LVDS output which can not be used for a DSI display. Unfortunately, we do not have products that generate DSI outputs as that is uncommon.

  • Hi Abdulrahman, thank you for the reply.

But if we consider not a DSI interface, but a common RGB-to-LVDS converter.

Is it possible to implement such type of converter on DS90C385A?

Is there any examples from TI where DS90C385A or a similar part where used to convert RGB to LVDS?

Customer wants to use this part for an LCD around 1280x480 px. What the specs of LCD should be taken into account while selecting DS90C385A or a similar device?

    Thank you.

  • Hello Slava,

It is possible to implement a common RGB-to-LVDS converter using the DS90C385A.

For the LCD Display, the Pixel Clock should remain below 87.5MHz. The pixel clock is calculated by multiplying the resolution (active pixels and blanking) and the frame rate. Based on the resolution you provided, there should not be much issue using the LCD with the DS90C385A.
