Hello my customer has several questions for DP838969.

 

1)

Fore power supply, DP83869 has two-supply mode and three-supply mode.

What is the merit of using three-supply mode?

 

2)

The datasheet specifies power-up sequence, but there is no description about power-down sequence.

Is any specific power down sequence required?

 

3)

They use DP83869 as RGMII to 1000Base-X.

How to terminate unused MDI signals like TD_P_A and unused strap pins like JTAG, LED, CLK_OUT, XO?

 

4)

They would like to know how to evaluate DP83869 with 1000base-X.

Usually how to evaluate it?

For example, measuring rise/fall time, duty etc by oscilloscope? or IBIS simulation?

Measuring SI and SO of DP83869 by oscilloscope compliance test(?)?

  • Hi Oba-san,

    1) Using 3 supply configuration would be more power saving as customer can use external LDO instead of relying on internal LDO.

    2) There is no power down sequence for this PHY.

    3) You may leave these pins DNC.

    4) Please see 1000Base-X OUTPUT section in Electrical Characteristics. Customer may then measure the signals and compare against those parameters.
