TCAN1164-Q1: Leakage current

Part Number: TCAN1164-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1167-Q1,

Dear team,

We are trying to calculate the total leakage of the product to check if we can meet the OEM requirements (<100uA).

According to the datasheet, it states that by STB should be 230 uA +60uA but I don’t know if we are understanding it correctly: is that right?

In this case, would TCAN1167-Q1 be the right option? I understand its sleep current is 6uA typ in sleep mode, correct?

Best regards, Antoine

  • HI Antoine,

The TCAN1167-Q1 would be your lower current option of the two devices since it has Sleep mode (as you noted).

For the TCAN1164-Q1, maximum current consumption in Standby mode would be 230 µA until a valid WUP is detected. Once the bus bias is active, an additional 60 µA max is drawn, resulting in a max current consumption of ISUP(STB) + ISUP(BIAS) = 290 µA. But even without the active state, it appears that 230 µA is above the 100 µA requirement.

The TCAN1167-Q1 is able to achieve very low current consumption with Sleep mode: 50 µA maximum across temperature (and 40 µA maximum under 85°C). This should achieve the OEM requirement you listed. Is this what you intended to type above as the sleep current value?

    Best,

    Danny
