TFP101 Resolution

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP403, TFP401A

can we use TFP101 for resolution up to (1280x800), and what is the best and largest resolution fot TFP101??please help me

  • Hello Hendri, sorry for the delayed response.

TI's DVI devices are ignorant to the resolution, and only care about the pixel frequency.  So any resolution + refresh rate that's between 25-86MHz is supported.

There's a VESA doc labeled "VESA and Industry Standards and Guidelines for Computer Display Monitor Timing (DMT)" with tables of resolutions+refresh and their associated pixel clocks.  There's also a free Excel-based CVT calculator that you can download from VESA after you register (or a google search reveals it's available here).  The calculator result doesn't always perfectly match the DMT tables.

To answer your question about 1280x800, the DMT table for 60Hz reduced-blanking has 71MHz, and 60Hz regular-blanking is 83.5MHz.  1366x768 at 60Hz_reduced is 72MHz, and at 60Hz_regular is 85.5MHz.  All of these are <86MHz and are supported.

Note that the TFP401A or TFP403 are strongly recommended for new designs, rather than the TFP101.

    Thanks,
    RE
