DP83869HM: Recommended layout infomration for 1000base-X

Hello,

My cusotmer is looking for layout guideline infomration for 1000base-X with DP83869.
The datasheet have some layout guideline, but there is no infomration about 1000base-X.
Do you have any recommendation?

Hello David,

I think SNLA387 doesn't mention about anything for 1000base-X(Fiber) which mean around SOP/SON/SIP/SIN/SD pins.
Don't we have anything for fiber use case?

Hi Oba,

For Fiber, the guidance is the same. Follow the MDI Traces section of the app note.

The only other thing to know is to place the coupling capacitors as close to the transmitter pins of the PHY as possible (SOP/SON).

Are the coupling capacitors really required for SOP/SON?
The datasheet doesn't mention about it and the EVM also doesn't have them.

Hi Oba,

Yes, the coupling capacitors are required. Some SFP modules have them included, however.
