DP83869HM: Using either DP83867ERGZR or DP83869HMRGZR on same PCB design

Customer is designing 2 variants and plans to use DP83867ERGZR for Variant 1 and DP83869HMRGZR for Variant 2.

As both have same footprint, and 80% same pinout, is it possible design a PCB that supports both options? (Using DNP resistors when different device is mounted)

Any guidelines or concerns when trying to do this?

Hi Eddie,

The DP83867 and DP83869 are different enough that we do not recommend designing both into one PCB. What is the use case that would require this?

Hi David,

The requirement is due to shortage. Customer would ideally prefer DP83869, but the lead time is beyond their project timeline. So they hope to use DP83867 until DP83869 is available.

Hi Eddie,

That is an understandable idea, but we can't recommend designing in both DP83867 and DP83869 into one board. Strongly recommend designing two separate boards to pursue this.
