Hey David,
HDCP is a type of encryption that protects digital intellectual property. An example of the necessity of HDCP in a system would be if a display were used to show copyrighted content that had been transmitted through an FPD link device. I have included a screenshot from the DS90UH947 datasheet that also provides information regarding HDCP. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Corinne
Hi Corinne,
Thanks for you feedback. Two more questions:
1. Why not 933 ,953 don't have the HDCP funciton?
2. what you said "copyright" is often refer to film or book, but for the automotive IVI, only have the UI interface or navigation map.
Could you give some use cases of HDCP for IVI?
Thanks
Best regards,
David
Hi David,
1. The 933 and 953 weren't designed with the HDCP feature in mind since they are ADAS parts.
2. In automotive applications HDCP is often used with displays that support streaming services such as Netflix which have copyright content.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Best,
Corinne
Hi Cornne,
Thanks for your feedback. For #2, you mean the driver will use the CID for Netflix watching, did not see this kind of use cases before.
Could you help provide a example of this? the driver watching netflix when running or stopping? any danger for this?
Best regards,
David
Hey David,
There are generally safeguards in place to make sure the driver isn't watching something while driving or the entertainment could be specifically for the passengers.
Best,
Corinne
Hi Corinne,
Could you provide a use case example of the HDCP feature? Thanks
Best regards,
David
As I mentioned before it can be used for streaming services, like Netflix, in a vehicle to provide passenger entertainment.
