How to set DS250DF410 CTLE boost?
BTW, what is the difference of retimer, redriver and repeater?
Thanks

Hi David,
In adapt modes 1, 2, and 3, the CTLE is automatically adapted. For details on how to manually set it, please see the programming guide for this device. You can request access through the link below.
A repeater is synonymous with a redriver. The difference between a redriver and retimer is that a retimer has a CDR stage that samples and retransmits the data in order to reduce jitter. A retimer generally has a more advanced receiver and transmitter, offering DFE on the receiver and an FIR filter on the transmitter. Additional details on the differences between redrivers and retimers can be found in the app notes below.

Hi Drew,
Thanks for your feedback. Will check the app note for detail, what is the difference between the boost and gain?
Best regards,
David
Hi David,
This largely depends on the context. There is definitely some overlap between the terms. With that said, "boost" is often referred to when discussing CTLE. This is because CTLE applies a "boost" to the high frequency components of a signal. Gain is often used in the context of broadband amplification of a signal.
With this said, context is definitely important and I am sure you can find instances where gain was used in the context of CTLE.
Thanks,
Drew
