AM26C31: Question about AM26C31

Part Number: AM26C31
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM26LS31

Hi Team,

my customer is now looking for a single-ended to differential output device which used on the ABZ signal(comes from codec), and they need at least three inputs&outputs in the device. I checked that AM26C31 could be one suitable device. However, is it compatible to ABZ signal? Thanks.

Frank

  • Hi Frank,

Do you have specifications on the requirements for the ABZ signals? Especially around timing tolerances? This device should be able to pass ABZ signals since there are enough channels - but if you could give the requirements on the ABZ signal that will be helpful for me to determine if this part will work for your specific application.

    Please let me know!

  • Hi Parker,

    Thanks for the information.

Could you please list some specific specs of ABZ signal that you need to determine if this device can work?

I could communicate with customer to see if they can provide some specific specs. Thanks.

  • Hi Frank,

Timing specifications - like is there specific prop delay requirements, jitter requirements, and frequency/data-rate of the signal would be great. This device isn't the most precision device and we are lacking some data on it so I wanted to see if any of the timing needs of the application would possibly causes issues if this part is chosen. It may work for the application but I just want to make sure.

    Please let me know!

  • Hi Parker,

The data-rate is 5MHz, and other are not required. Does this part can be compatible?

Btw, I could see that AM26C31 can replace AM26LS31, does AM26LS31 can also be compatible to this requirement?

    Thank you.

    Frank

  • Hi Frank,

If the requirement is 5MHz and there doesn't need to be a common mode range beyond +/-7V (I think the nominal voltage should be fine because I do believe ABZ signals are going to be digital so as long as that is fine for the system it should be okay) than this device can work for the application.

For your other question - yes the AM26LS31 could also possibly work - but that part isn't offered in a package rated up to 125C and it has a lower fault-protection rating (the "C" version of the part has +/-14V fault protection in addition to the +/-7V common mode range) if -40C to 85C or 0C to 70C is all you need and the additional fault protection isn't needed than this part should also be able to work.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
