Hi all.

I'm starting to work with ser/deser chips for the first time. I want to use it in conjunction with Chinese IPC camera chips. These chips only have one I2C port, which is used to control the image sensor. The question is, do I need to upgrade the image sensor driver in order to configure the deser chip first, and then transmit the image sensor control signals, or is there some simpler way. I don't want to rewrite the driver. The ideal option is to assemble the circuit, connect the deser to the ISP, the ser chip to the image sensor. Tell me the right way. Thanks in advance.

Hi Arthur,

Thank you for your question. You can configure the devices remotely using I2C communication. Just make sure that I2C Pass_Through is enabled and any necessary slave IDs/alias are set.

I2C Pass_Through is enabled from setting bit 6 of the BCC_CONFIG register (0x58[6] = 1). Each slave ID/alias would be set with the corresponding registers. For example, registers SlaveID[0] (address 0x5D) and SlaveAlias[0] (address 0x65) would contain the 7-bit addresses of the remote slave device ID and the corresponding alias respectively.

The exact I2C addresses are dependent on the devices you use, but this would look similar to:

WriteI2C(0x58,0x58) # enable pass through
WriteI2C(0x5c,0x18) # "SER_ALIAS_ID"
WriteI2C(0x5d,0x60) # "SlaveID[0]"
WriteI2C(0x65,0x60) # "SlaveAlias[0]"
