Hi support teams,

Our custmer use LMH1227(LMH1228).

If they connect a bad quality SGI cable, LMH1227 was broke down.

Thie reason might be that the gnd is floting, then unexpected current flows into LMH 1227.

Do you have any recommendation of protection IC?

Is TPD01E01B04 is enough for protection?

Greetings Shoo,

At 12G SDI data rate, protection devices parasitic cause signal integrity degradation. Customer should discuss this with their protection device vendor to make sure these parasitic do not degrade signal integrity.

Hi Shoo,

I haven't heard about this type of issue before.

Based on your description, bad quality cable LMH1227 broke down, it seems 75-ohm output stage of the device has gotten damaged. Perhaps this could be due to high voltage being applied at the output. Your customer should find out the root cause of this high voltage and try to avoid the occurrence of this event.
